Well before starting about Our collection we would like tell a brief history about Facebook. May be following 8 points,

4. Zuckerberg began writing code for a new website in January 2004 and on February 4, 2004, Zuckerberg launched “Thefacebook”, originally located at thefacebook.com
5. The company dropped The from its name after purchasing the domain name facebook.com in 2005 for $200,000!!
6. Facebook’s privacy policy is a whopping 5,830 words long, even more verbose than the Constitution of the United States which reads at 4,543 words
7. Facebook has 77k+ application and counting
8. Facebook has 5lakh+ developers!

What you say about Facebook now? In very short amount of time Facebook has reached great position by replacing a big gun like Orkut, Tweeter and many!!

Waaw! What a topic to start with. One of the most astonishing fact why Facebook reached No.1 position is because of the number of Applications it provides for the user.

Facebook’s bottom bar one of the coolest feature in it. When Facebook added bottom bar, they had just added bookmarking facility. Later by April 2008, they added chat option as well. Currently we can call this as Chat Bar as there is no bookmarking facility available anymore in Bottom Bar.

When Facebook came online many Orkut users deleted their account and joined Facebook because their account was hacked by Hackers(and I’m one among them). Now a days Facebook is having many problems with this Hackers.

The Facebook security gaffes keep coming, with the latest being a bug that allows hackers to delete all of a users’ site friends without permission, according to IDG News.

Facebook is getting many hackers because of many 3rd party applications. As Facebook started leaking data to 3rd party, many hackers are advantage on it and enjoying their work. And even many viruses and spams are playing around creating a bluders!

Facebook Images has many cool features and uploading images and viewing is one among that.

According to Wiki…Koobface, an anagram of Facebook, is a computer worm that targets the Microsoft Windows users of the social networking websites Facebook, MySpace, hi5,  Bebo, Friendster and Twitter. Koobface ultimately attempts, upon successful infection, to gather sensitive information from the victims such as credit card numbers. It was first detected in December 2008 and a more potent version appeared in March 2009.

Lite:

In August 2009, Facebook announced its new lighter version “Facebook Lite” which was optimized for users on slower or intermittent Internet connections. Facebook Lite offered fewer services, excluded most third-party applications and required less bandwidth. Very fast and easy to browse version.

But lite version couldn’t survive for long time. Although many users felt that lite version was very useful because whenever Facebook normal version experienced the downtime users had an another option to shift and connect to their buddies. On 20 April 2010 that support for the “Lite” service had ended and that users were redirected back to the normal, full content, Facebook website. The service was only operational eight months.

Mobile:

After seeing the success of full version, Facebook decided to provide the access to mobile users and make users to get connected to their friends even when they are not infront of the system.

Facebook is providing the Mobile application free for its users and it is available to all kind of phones.

Just a week back they released one more mobile version called 0.facebook.com. We will explain more about it later 🙂

Notifications:

Facebook says “We will update each and every movement of your friends in second”.

Yes they are right. Facebook provides on-time updates about your friends. When your friends just says “HI” to another friend, Facebook Notification will notify about that to you. Now just imagine what all they can Notify.

But Facebook did something more that users started hating the notifications. They started Notifying about applications others using. So many people reported facebook to stop it. Finally users got good news about it and it came on Mar 1,2010. Facebook announced that they are taking off the notifications about the Applications!

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg is an American entrepreneur best known for co-founding the popular social networking site Facebook. With the help from 3 of his classmates Zuckerberg started Facebook from his Harvard dorm room on February 4, 2004. Intially they started with just publishing the annual student directory with headshot photos of all students.

On May 24, 2007, Zuckerberg announced a Facebook Platform, a development platform for programmers to create social applications within Facebook. And On November 6, 2007, Zuckerberg announced a new social advertising system at an event in Los Angeles. A part of the new program, called Beacon, enabled people to share information with their Facebook friends based on their browsing activities on other sites.

Since Facebook launched video adding facility on 2007, more than 45 million videos have been uploaded to Facebook with approximately 100,000 new videos added each day. The one more new good thing about Facebook is you can see the video anywhere(even on main page itself). It has a facility to reduce the video dimension and play with a small screen as well 🙂
