Window 7 Family Pack To Replace Windows XP

Windows XP Stop Sales

As we all know, Microsoft is going to end the sales of Windows XP on October 22. Yes! Only few days left and still Windows XP is having a strong market compared to any other operating system in the world now.

This time around Microsoft is looking serious about their statement and the XP lovers should have to rush towards the outlet and get their copy. Currently by the end of September we noticed that Windows XP is still holding more than 50% for market share worldwide(according tto statcounter).

Windows XP has been available for 9 years and 2 months. The only operating system which had a long journey. The OS was originally planned to be phased out in October of 2007, but saw considerable demand due to the slow adoption of Windows Vista and the emergence of netbooks, which were not powerful enough to run Windows Vista. Eventually, XP ended up with a 98% market share of netbooks in 2008.

Microsoft slowly started moving its loyal users to Windows 7, started developing non-supportable softwares like IE9 and Windows Live. But whatever the change is, Microsoft is going to stick to its words this time and October 22nd will be the D-day for Windows XP.

Ending Windows XP will surely be big blow for Microsoft. But it is trying for a smooth transition and said that it will be bringing back the Windows 7 Family Pack on October 22 which gets users three copies of the Windows 7 Home Premium for $150 – while supplies last.

This is your chance to get up to three PCs running Windows 7 Home Premium for the low price of $149.99 ERP. But act fast—Family Pack is only available while supplies last.

Even we are confused why Microsoft is playing this game by telling “Buy before stock Ends”! Following are the list of countries where Family Pack will be available,

United States, Canada, UK, France, Germany, China, Russia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Slovakia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Australia, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Brazil, Bulgaria, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Romania, and Ukraine.

Shockingly, Windows 7 Family Pack will not be available in India!

All this news around making everyone feel that Windows XP is surely going to die on October 22nd. But Microsoft says that it will provide support until April 8, 2014, provided you run the latest service pack and keep the software up to date (as far as those updates are available.) Windows Vista support will end in April 2014 as well.

Do you think by providing Windows 7 Family Pack will make a smooth transition? What about other countries which are not in the list? Express and share your thoughts. 🙂 Thanks for reading.

Mmm.. It will be smooth for us who already have Windows 7, it will be painful for those who can't afford W7 or those who have old machines that they will need to toss to get W7. My bet is that most are going to keep using XP until their PC fails or gets so overrun by malware that it can't operate..

I do feel the same. But still XP is smooth and still many softwares are built based on XP. And ruling market for more than 9yrs is not so easy. What you say about it? Thanks for the comment buddy :)

I am using Windows 7 professional but wanted to purchase one Home premium version for my home PC, it was not even available with the local vendor, It is understood that (not sure) nowadays home premium is being supplied with new PCs and Laptops as OEM suite. But it is available in the Microsoft authorized websotres.

Windows Vista was one of the flop show by MS. According to me, Windows XP and Windows 7 are the best OS ever seen from MS :) What you say Keith? Thanks for sharing your view :)

XP won't die. Upgrading to Windows 7 is the least of corporation's concerns. It's too complicated for them to even migrate to IE8 from IE6. Imagine XP to 7...

I think this is Microsoft's final attempt to convert its XP users into Win 7 users. Believe it or not, XP is still winning in terms of number of user base.
